BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 7 Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team prolonged their winning streak to 12, taking a 5-4 road victory over No. 5 Lynn at the Perper Tennis Complex on Tuesday.
The Sharks (12-1, 4-0 SSC) took an initial 2-1 lead in doubles play thanks to
Nastassia Rubel (Jr., Minsk, Belarus) and
Petra Jurova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia) in the No. 2 doubles, as they swept their opponents. Followed immediately after was the victory from the Sharks No. 1 duo of
Klaudia Boczova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Sabrina Kierberg (Sr., Munich, Germany) by a score of 8-3.
Singles play was much more competitive than the doubles as the No. 5 Fighting Knights (13-3, 2-2 SSC) brought out their best competition. The Sharks were able to grab three of the six singles matches, and clinched the victory. Jurova led the Sharks to victory with a 6-2, 6-2 singles win, her 12th consecutive of the season. Boczovia was next in line for Sharks success in the No. 1 singles, with a 6-1, 6-3 mark over the No. 6 nationally-ranked singles player, Diana Bogolli. The final decision came from Kierberg in the No. 2 singles match with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 triumph.
No. 7 NSU women's tennis will be back to action on Friday, April 9 when the team faces the No. 40 Florida Southern Mocs in Lakeland, Florida at 11 a.m.
